Went out with my parents, sis and great-grandmother today. Although her legs are weak, and needs a wheelchair to get around in the shopping mall, I still had a quiet sort of happiness to be with her and talking with her (at the same time, brushing up my teochew/hokkien). Suddenly remembered that when I was young, and she called my house phone, I happened to be the one picking up. When my mom asked me who called, I told her it's 世界上最大的女人. At that time, everybody was amused, and I didn't know why, cos to me, she is really one. In terms of family tree, she is the one at the top. Of course, the presence of women in power were unknown to me at that time.
When we went to the supermarket today, she insisted that I get myself chocolates or some tidbits, and she wanted to pay for it. Although I'm no longer the girl who will be happy with just a few chocolates, I'm still extremely touched at her thought. In her heart, I'm still the little girl who love chocolates. Another thing that surprises me is the fact that she remembers my birthday. She told me in teochew, "your birthday is in the 5th lunar month, chu san". In my heart, I thought, old people aren't suppose to have such a good memory. However, it occured to me that I'm important to her, enough to be remembered. =')
No matter how many women are in power today, she will forever be the 世界最大的女人in my heart.
